Teenee Todds Day Nursery
Teenee Todds Day Nursery is the Early Years sections of our school. Established in 2010, Teenee Todds Day Nursery offers a safe, hygienic and enabling environment for children aged 3 months to 5 years.
EYFS Curriculum
Within the early years unit, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, UK (EYFS) for children aged from 0 to 5 years. By using the EYFS framework guidelines are set for reaching expected developmental milestones across seven areas of learning:
Prime Areas
- Physical Development
- Communication and Language
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Specific Areas
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding of the World
- Expressive Art and Design
The core of our teaching and learning is to engage children in practical, play-based exploration which incorporates a child’s interests by giving access to continual provision that prompts new, inspired learning. By creating opportunities to make new discoveries and explore their environment, our ethos is to create a holistic approach for our youngest members to become independent, adaptable, confident individuals.
Hygiene & Safety
Hygiene is a non-negotiable across the schools. Babies are free to crawl around their environment exploring with their hands, feet and mouths without the fear of dirt and bacteria. All teachers, caregivers and cleaners are trained on hygiene procedures and best practices. Not stopping with the adults in the school, children are also taught the importance of personal hygiene and the need to keep their environment clean and tidy. A valuable, but often overlooked, life long skill.
Closely monitored security cameras in every classroom, play area and walkway ensure children are able to learn and play safely. When incidences do occur, parents are unfailingly provided with a detailed report from the class teacher and school nurse, called immediately and sent a picture of the child to put their mind at ease. All play equipment, toys and school resources are procured from reputable, international suppliers to ensure they meet international safety standards.
Daycare
Our Yellow Ducklings class plays host to children from 3 months - 18 months. With a child to adult ratio of 3:1, children are provided with a safe, enabling environment. Infants need interaction to develop a sense of trust with their caregiver. That’s why we cuddle, rock, even make silly sounds and faces, everything possible to bond with your baby. We introduce baby sign language, play simple games like peek-a-boo, sing songs, dance to music, read stories, take walks and have a lot of fun with baby art! Our safe environment mixed with our nurturing certified teachers, help infants develop in these key areas – cognitively, emotionally and physically.
Nesters classes are for children aged 18 - 24 months and have a ratio of 4 children to every adult (4:1). The Toddler class provides each child with experiences that are fun, active, sensory based and meaningful. Our teachers guide the children through age – appropriate activities, helping them to improve coordination and increase verbal and problem – solving skills.
Pre-Nursery
Our White Swans stream welcomes children aged 2 - 3 years. Children in this age group are constantly discovering new things and learning to problem solve. This is the age that our students really begin to take an interest in the world around them and they are filled with questions, becoming more and more curious every day. At Teenee Todds, we use termly themed lessons and give our students the guidance and tools they need to explore and learn about the world in a comfortable, secure environment. Within our cozy and comfortable classrooms, children are encouraged to play pretend, try learning games and problem solve with puzzles, get creative with art or even participate in many hands-on activities.
Nursery
Children aged 3 - 4 years form our Red Robins classes. Here, there is a focus on developing early reading and writing skills through the Jolly Phonics programme. Children learn correct letter formation by focusing on the Nelson Handwriting scheme. The classrooms are divided into various learning areas, including: Math centre, Literacy centre, Art centre, role play/ kitchen area, sensory area and toys/puzzles. During free play and continuous provision sessions, the children have unlimited use of the learning centres.
