Sports at BBS

At Broadoaks British School, we produce holistic children by engaging in a rich sports curriculum. Students partake in varying sporting activities and competitions, building an effectively competitive environment with sportsmanship at the centre of our teachings.

During P.E lessons, every child is engaged as we focus our sessions on practical activities aiming to develop fitness, endurance, and physical skills in our students.

CURRICULUM AND CLUBS

We offer a wide variety of sports both as part of the curriculum and in our comprehensive co-curricular clubs offering. Many of the sports taught at BBS are recognised in the British and Nigerian cultures and therefore prepare students to blend in wherever they may end up in the future. Such sports include:

  • Swimming
  • Rugby
  • Tennis
  • Football
  • Volleyball
  • Badminton
  • Basketball
  • Netball
  • Hockey
  • Gymnastics and Dance
  • Athletics

We also organize regular keep fit and fun activities for our staff and parents in order to build a strong community with our stakeholders.

SPORTS DAY AND COMPETITIONS

Our annual Sports Day is a highlight of the school calendar. Taking place on a professional 400m track and field, where we showcase various talented students who in return display skills and techniques for both entertainment and competition. We also engage in inter-school competitions across Abuja and (in the near future) internationally, aimed at exposing our students to both local and international cultures and experiences. We encourage the love for physical activities as well as set a path for career development and good relationships among peers, teaching the spirit of sportsmanship, determination, leadership, perseverance and team work.
